BARC will hold a Parks on the Air (POTA) at John Bryan State Park and Clifton Gorge

between Yellow Springs and Clifton, Ohio. The weather at the time of this email looks pretty good (20s and a little wind). In case it changes drastically, I will send an email out a cancellation Wednesday night.

  • John Bryan (Clifton Gorge):
    Address: 3790 OH-370, Yellow Springs, OH 45387
    Coordinates: 39°47′28″N 83°51′16″W / 39.79111°N 83.85444°W
  • POTA operators will set up and operate stations on at least four bands (40m, 20m, 15m, and 10m). If you have a HF set and antenna and want to set up, we can spread out quite a bit, so please bring it along. The 10m station might even be set up at the Clifton Gorge parking lot tp spread out farther.
  • The purpose is to allow those who wish to learn POTA to sit alongside an experienced person. Jim Gifford will operate on 10m to allow any Technician class operators to activate.
  • Let’s all meet back by the mountain bike course at about 9am, which is at the end of the road that curves left just past the park office.

Obviously, dress to keep warm. This is not like Winter Field Day, because we won’t have a fireplace. Watch out for deer on the way in. Bring a camping chair if available. If you have headphones, please bring them.

If you arrive and cannot locate one of us, call Jim N8KET at 937-718-6126. We will also monitor simplex 147.405.
