One of the fun Public Service Events that the Bellbrook Amateur Radio Club participates in is the yearly Little Miami River Cleanup. BARC provides radio support, collects volunteer information, and alerts emergency teams, if necessary. Despite the absolutely beautiful day, the Little Miami River was high and moving quickly so it was deemed too dangerous to put volunteers on the river in kayaks. So it was a walking day to pick up trash and recycling along the river near the normal canoe locations. Afterwards, all the volunteers were treated to a buffet luncheon at Bellbrock Park!
Special thanks to Darryl Fowler, KD8JQE, who organizes the event every year and to Don Parker, KB8PSL, who was the on-site organizer for the event. Randy Allen, KA0AZS, did a great job as the Net Control Station and Tink Siwecki, KD8NUA, setup and worked up the BARC Information Booth. Thanks to all the other great BARC members who volunteered!
