What is everybody’s favorite BARC operating/social event? Field Day, of course! With that in mind, the Planning and Field Day Committees decided that it would be a great idea to have a second Field Day in the fall. We got together with the Education Committee and settled on a Fall Field Day in conjunction with Operating Afternoon and the Ohio State Parks on the Air (OSPOTA) on Saturday, September 10, 2022.
The Ohio State Parks on the Air event runs from 10 am until 6 pm with a goal of making as many contacts from an Ohio State Park and with other Ohio State Parks as possible. We will be operating from John Bryan State Park near the Mountain Bike Trail Parking lot (see pictures). There is a small shelter there and grassy space for putting up antennas. There are also restroom facilities. We will begin setting up around 8 am. Information and rules for the OSPOTA can be found here.
The Fall Field Day event will be smaller and more laid-back than our June Field Day. We will have some soda and water available and will provide lunch including Dot’s chicken and some potato or macaroni salad. We ask that you bring your own chairs and maybe a table if you have one. Feel free to bring a dessert or your favorite beverage (no alcohol in the park, though).
So come on out to John Bryan State Park and socialize with other BARC members or get on the air and operate POTA. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate and we will have a great time!
