On Saturday, January 28, 2023, BARC members set up radios and antennas at Hills and Dales MetroPark and worked Winter Field Day. The weather cooperated and we weren’t too cold with a fire in the fireplace, just in case. BARC members shared tips on antenna building and radios as well as great conversation and food with chili, fudge, cornbread, and hot coffee. Working only on Saturday afternoon, BARC made 47 phone contacts and received 2000 bonus points for alternative power, outdoor location, setting up our own antennas, and being away from home. It was a great event and Jordan Rio, KE8VYB, made his first HF contact and went on to make several more.
