At the BARC March Membership meeting, Bob Baker, N8ADO, presented “Are You Prepared to Save the World
Using Ham Radio? (Using Public Service Events to Develop Emergency Communications Skills)”. Bob is the new Greene County ARES (GCARES) Emergency Coordinator and is hoping to restart GCARES soon. He provided an overview of Public Service vs. Public Safety, ARES, and Skywarn. Bob also provided several reasons why we should all consider Public Service Events and use them as training for real emergencies. Finally, he presented a list of upcoming Public Service Events including a detailed look at amateur radio involvement in the Air Force Marathon, and encouraged all to volunteer.
The presentation slides are available under Programs…Membership Meetings in the menu above or by clicking here.
