After several years of delays and planning, the R9 Vertical antenna is finally installed on the rooftop! The R9 is a vertical antenna that covers all bands from 80m through 6m and will give us a much needed additional HF antenna option in the clubhouse for DX’ing and contesting. A foldover mount was installed several months ago before the weather got hot. Once things cooled down, our intrepid BARC antenna crew installed the eye bolts for the guy ropes and then performed final assembly and installation of the antenna on the rooftop. After a couple of iterations raising and lowering the antenna (thank you foldover mount!), the antenna was tuned to better than 3:1 SWR on all bands.
In the next week or so, we will install the coaxial cable, run it into the clubhouse through the polyphasers, and test out the antenna on the air. Exciting times at the BARC clubhouse!
Many thanks to our BARC antenna installation crew and all those who helped throughout this project, especially
