The Little Miami River Cleanup is part of the Little Miami River Festival Celebration on June 29, 2024. That is the weekend after Field Day. As part of the celebration, the morning activities include cleanup of debris on the Little Miami River. The Little Miami Network has yet to complete their plans for each section on the river. However, the morning cleanup activities involve the removal of trash from Mill Bridge Launch to Constitution Park, Constitution to RiversEdge, and RiversEdge to Corwin Dam. They estimate about 16 people per section, so that should be 48 volunteers on the water.
The festival begins at noon and goes to four pm. It will be at Bellbrock Park in Bellbrook. The Committee has reserved the gazebo as our net control setup location. There will be displays for other sponsors and waterway conservation groups at the park, along with food and music.
We will need about 8 volunteers; 2 for net control, at least one volunteer per section, and two for the display table. We do not go on the water. BARC volunteers station themselves at the input and takeout locations. I also signed us up for a display table during the festival to disclose our club activities.
I will update the group with further information as time grows near. I will ask for volunteers in May. I will put an article in the June issue of Full Quieting.
